The Icom U16(T)

This page is made to find out much as possible about the Icom U16(T), AMCOM (Icom Netherlands) will not give out any info and comes up with a lousy excuse that it's professional equipment (yeah sure they just want to make big $ for programming the U16T).

There are at least two different U16 handhelds (referred here as type 1(u16) and type 2(u16t))

Type 1 is an easy one to program:

THIS info can also be found on : www.mods.dk

Here's how to program the ICOM-U16 - if the U16 has been made programmable by moving a jumper:

Try holding FUNCT down and entering 159357.
It's now in prog mode. Exit with FUNCT-CLR.
Function + 159357 (Enter program mode)

Helt to fint the U16 jumper
>Questions:
>
>The file implies that the U16 must have a jumper in a certain spot, in
>order for it to be user-programmable. Where should this jumper be?

3/4 way down the left side of the logic board which is inside the front cover.

>The file contradicts itself: when a new frequency is being inserted,
>should it be entered as five or six digits?

The frequency must be inserted in six digits. The decimal point must return to be a valid frequency entry. Also you must hold the function button while entering the frequency and then press enter before releasing the function buttion.

Type 2 is not much known about (U16T), I expect that programming is probebly the same as with type 1 except for the 'code' that you have to type to get into the 'program mode' is different (and unknown to me Yet).
